Song Dok II

Song Dok II

Metal craftsmanship goes back for millennia in the Thai culture. There is evidence of bronze metallurgy in Thailand going back 3,500 years along with other indications of a highly sophisticated ancient culture. Siam is the name by which the country was known to the world until 1939 and again between 1945 and 1949. In 1949, an official proclamation changed the name of the country to "Prathet Thai,” or Thailand, which means "Land of the Free."

Designer Kultirat Meesaiyati brings her interior design skills to a full range of projects at Gavang, including silver jewelry design that focuses on geometric simplicity. "Nature's simple beauty is the source of my inspiration,” she says. “I love simple design to highlight the natural beauty of modern women using streamlined geometric shapes – nothing flamboyant – and different levels of polished silver to bring a sense of contrast.”

This stunning sterling silver cuff won the Thailand Design Award. Its form was heavily influenced by the artist’s extensive training in architecture and industrial design. Made in Thailand of sterling silver. 4 1/2"
